KANSAS CITY, Mo. — September 18, 2026 — Swope Health and the Children’s Center Campus (CCC) Board of Directors announce today that Swope Health has purchased the CCC facility at 31st and Main that has served children and families for nearly three decades.
This transaction will continue the legacy of the facility’s focus on health, healing and family-centered services for the community, while also supporting future plans of its current nonprofit tenants, Ability KC and Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI). Both organizations announced plans earlier this year to transition from the CCC. In June, Ability KC purchased its future campus at 715 Kirk Drive, while CCVI has continued to expand its community-based services and in September, secured a new location for its center-based service offerings.
Both organizations will maintain continued operations in the CCC until construction on their new locations is completed.
The sale comes as Swope Health expands services. The health center will bring to the site specialized medical and dental care for women and children, as well as new youth-focused behavioral health services, including comprehensive screenings, psychosocial rehabilitation services, and counseling. With this move, Swope Health advances its strategy to deliver specialized care to targeted populations in purpose-built clinics. In addition, shifting women’s health, pediatric care, and integrated behavioral health to the CCC builds capacity at Swope Health Central—its largest site—to accommodate the Swope Health Family Medicine Residency Program and other forthcoming initiatives.
“This is an important step forward for the families and communities we serve,” said Swope Health President and CEO Jeron Ravin, J.D., MHL. “Swope Health is honored to carry forward the purpose of this campus by expanding access to integrated care for women, children and families. We are grateful to Ability KC, CCVI and the Children’s Center Campus Board for their collaboration and shared commitment to improving lives across Kansas City.”
The CCC, governed by a non-profit board, was established in 1997 to support mission-focused service organizations through a shared facility and streamlined resources. This transaction allows this purpose to continue for many more years.
The CCC board will distribute sale proceeds in accordance with its bylaws, which will ensure funds continue to support and benefit children and families in Kansas City. The organizations are working together to ensure a seamless transition and full continuity in all services.
