Program Details & Benefits
Swope Health is proud to launch it’s ACGME‑accredited Family Medicine Residency Program, grounded in nearly 60 years of service as a trusted Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the Kansas City region. This program is designed for physicians who want to practice full‑scope family medicine delivered within a Patient‑Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model, while advancing health equity, justice, and community trust.
Program Mission: We train excellent family physicians to provide relationship-centered, whole-person care while leading improvements in quality, patient safety, access to care, and population health—through a structured, supportive learning environment, practicing behaviors that prepare residents for independent practice.
Program Vision: Our graduates will be trusted, community-rooted physicians and leaders who deliver high-quality care, improve outcomes, reduce barriers to care, and strengthen primary care systems across the communities they serve.
Training is responsive to documented population needs and emphasizes balanced clinical preparation across:
- Women’s health and perinatal care
- Pediatrics and adolescent medicine
- Adult and chronic disease management
- Geriatric care informed by PACE and aging‑in‑place models
- Integrated behavioral health
Graduates will be prepared to practice—and remain—in safety‑net and community‑based settings where comprehensive family medicine has the greatest impact.
