Kansas City Monarchs Announce Exclusive Partnership with Swope Health

The Kansas City Monarchs today announced an allegiance with Swope Health as its exclusive healthcare services partner.

The agreement marks the first healthcare service partnership for the reigning American Association baseball champions and aligns the two organizations in a commitment to health access and social equity.

“With Swope Health’s large patient population in Wyandotte County and across the metro, this partnership is a natural fit for the Monarchs,” Monarchs CEO Mark McKee said. “The partnership celebrates wellness, preventive care, and health literacy in the community through the joy of local sports.”

Swope Health President and CEO Jeron Ravin, J.D., agreed. “We are proud and honored to support the history, tradition and mission of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the Monarchs. This is an opportunity to extend access to our services and, together, to write a new chapter in sports history.”

The Monarchs support Swope Health, as the voice of community health, in expanding access to healthcare and addressing health equity. The partnership will focus on community service, inviting the organizations’ networks of non-profit and civic agencies to join in providing resources to address community needs.

The Monarchs and Swope Health plan to use the ballpark facilities for new connections with the community, envisioning back-to-school events, Mobile Medical Unit appearances at games, and promotional events to drive health initiatives and awareness.

For Swope Health, the allegiance is part of its continuing commitment to the Wyandotte County community. Swope Health recently announced plans for a new facility to be housed at the Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Downtown Community Education Center.
