Sonja Bachus returns to Swope Health, additional roles enhance senior leadership team

KANSAS CITY, MO (MARCH 30, 2026)Swope Health is pleased to announce that Sonja Bachus, BBA, MJ, CHCEF, has again joined Swope Health, serving as Chief Operations Officer, effective March 30.

Most recently, Bachus served as Chief Experience Officer for the National Association of Community Health Centers, where she provided strategic leadership and direction for NACHC’s efforts to enhance services and support for members and key stakeholders.

For more than 20 years, Bachus has built a storied career in healthcare, focusing intentionally on Federally Qualified Health Centers. In previous roles, she served as Chief Executive Officer for Community Care Network of Kansas; CEO of Greater Baden Medical Services, based in Maryland; and Chief Operating Officer of HealthNet, Inc., Indiana’s largest Community Health Center in Indianapolis, Ind.

This role marks a return to Swope Health for Bachus, who served as Service Line Administrator from 2003-11. In her role as COO, Bachus will oversee strategy, capital projects, practice management, call center operations, optometry, lab, radiology, facilities, transportation, pharmacy, and outreach and enrollment, among other critical health center operations.

New appointments
In addition to Bachus’ return, Swope Health has added two new roles to its senior leadership team. Brandi Finocchario, who joined Swope Health as Chief Strategy Officer in 2024, has been appointed Chief Performance Officer, effective March 2026, bringing compliance, health information, performance improvement, risk management, patient litigation, incident investigation and reporting, and safety management  under her purview.

Additionally, Bridget Locke, former Director of Strategic Communications, was named Chief Communications Officer, effective August 2025. Locke, who joined Swope Health in 2023, remains responsible for leading internal and external communications strategies, marketing and branding, media relations, and major events. As part of her new role, development and fundraising have also been added to her areas of oversight.
