Every August, the National Association of Community Health Centers sponsors National Health Center Week to increase awareness of the 1,400 Community Health Centers across the country.
It is a time set aside to celebrate the commitment that Community Health Centers show in making quality, comprehensive healthcare services available to more than 30 million patients across 14,500 communities annually.
This year, National Health Center Week takes place Sunday, Aug. 6 through Saturday, Aug. 12. Swope Health supports this celebration and takes pride in our role in serving as Kansas City’s voice of community health.

- Sunday, Aug. 6: Public Health and Housing Day
Watch our social media for special features and interviews with our associates who work our Residential facilities. Swope Health operates residential facilities at Kanzetta Harris House, Benton Home, Penn Place and Swope Gardens. - Monday, Aug. 7: Healthcare for the Homeless Day
Swope Health associates will be donating foods and family essential supplies for our outreach clinic clients throughout the week. - Tuesday, Aug. 8: Agricultural Worker Day
Swope Health will recognize the Kansas City area’s rural farm and agricultural workers on social media. - Wednesday, Aug. 9: Patient Appreciation Day
We’ll provide healthy snacks for patients at Swope Health Central!
Additionally, Swope Health President and CEO Jeron Ravin, JD, will meet with Congressman Jake LaTurner at Swope Health KidsCARE Golon Pediatrics, our newest location in Leavenworth, KS.
- Thursday, Aug. 10: Stakeholder Appreciation Day
As a show of appreciation, we’ll deliver tasty treats to our partners as Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center, Operation Breakthrough and El Centro. Swope Health operates a comprehensive KidsCARE clinic at Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center and a KidsCARE Dental clinic at Operation Breakthrough. - Friday, Aug. 11: Health Center Staff Appreciation Day
Swope Health associates will join in the celebration with a photo opportunity – gathering associates in matching T-Shirts for a group portrait at Central. Swope Health is also providing a free pizza lunch to all associates.
Also, Swope Health President and CEO Jeron Ravin, JD, will meet with Wyatt Mullendore, Senior Field Representative for Congressman Sam Graves at Swope Health Central.
- Saturday, Aug. 12: Children’s Health Day
Join us at the Connecting Families to Care Community Outreach Fair at Legends Field, home of the Kansas City Monarchs, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
