Brew HaHa Happy Hour – Join us at Bier Station on Thursday November 2nd!

John Couture Raise a glass AND raise some funds at Bier Station – all to support Swope Health Services’ Healthcare for the Homeless programs.

Bier Station owner John Couture uses his business to focus on supporting the community. The bar, which is a craft beer tasting bar and bottle shop, uses its lively tavern environment and beer garden to host fundraisers and events for local community groups.

“I’m fortunate to own a successful business,” Couture said. “We decided that our emphasis as a business would be to give back.”

That emphasis shows up in frequent fundraisers and events for community groups. In addition to SHS, Bier Station has hosted events for the groups supporting civil rights, the environment, first responders, veterans and other community organizations.

Since the beginning of the year, Bier Station has raised more than $79,000 for local organizations.

He supports SHS because he believes healthcare is a human right.

“I know how valuable healthcare is to the community. Some of my staff and customers depend on community health centers,” he said. “I kept hearing how much good Swope Health Services was doing in the community and I wanted to support that.”

Couture continued: “Healthcare is a right, and it’s in danger in our country. Our system is flawed and even what we have is in danger of being stripped away. How could you NOT support that?”

Warm-up event for Socks and Hops

Bier Station, 120 E. Gregory Blvd., Kansas City, is hosting a Socks and Hops Preview Happy Hour, called Brew HaHa, from 4 – 11 p.m. Thursday Nov. 2.

Couture and other local brewers are donating kegs of beer and all sales from those kegs go directly to SHS Healthcare for the Homeless programs.

SHS invites everyone to visit the preview event – even if you’re not a fan of beer.

With dozens of varieties on tap and in bottles, Couture is certain he and his “beer geek” staff can find a brew that will appeal even to non-beer drinkers. He also serves wine, soft drinks and food.
